Summer Fun on the Weekend

On Saturday Braden and I made a trip to Lianne's beach house for a visit and then headed to Kennebunk for a birthday party.  It was a very busy morning/early afternoon.  And even after nap we didn't have much time for summer crafts.  But, we did have a little bit of fun outside with dadda!

On Sunday we had a fun day at home.  I tried a new pretzel recipe (delicious) and Braden painted an ice cream cone!

He decided on purple ice cream

All mixed and ready to go

He decided to dump the paint out instead of using his hands to scoop it out

Now the fun begins

Scooping out the paint

Messy!

Yaaa!

All done ice cream

Trying the new pretzels - loved them!

After lunch we went outside to play around with sponge water balls.  The pool was really yucky from the rain & being outside, but Braden didn't seem to mind.

Daddy Joins the Fun

Tonight we did a little bit of painting (a beach ball) and had tried out a new technique for bubbles.  The best part was that dad joined the fun!

Then we went outside to try out the homemade bubble snake bottle.  It was made using a water bottle (cut off) and a sock.  Just dip the sock in a water/dish soap mixture and blow the bubbles.

Watermelon & Fireflies

Braden and I both LOVE watermelon!  We could easily finish a whole one in one day if we wanted.  So, I thought he would have fun with a watermelon sensory bag.

Getting started

Helping add the hair gel

Then some "seeds"

More seeds

Red food coloring & then mixing things up

Squishy, Squishy

I didn't realize the hair gel was blue - so I was worried it would not look like watermelon

But it looks great - pointing out the seeds (he called them beans)

On to the next thing - opening bandaids

Next we talked about fireflies, which he had seen in person a few nights before while playing outside with dadda.

Coloring with some chalk

I added a moon & stars

Picking out the yellow bandaids

Firefly bodies are on - now for the wings
