Week 1: "Winter"

Winter

January 4 - January 10

This week the focus will be on all things "Winter".  The theme will include things like snow, snowmen, ice, icicles, snowflakes, penguins, mittens, scarves, hats, boots, cold, sledding, etc.  There are so many creative ideas on Pinterest - I can't wait to get started.

Crafts/Activities:
Sensory paint bag - snowflakes & blue paint

Sensory/Discovery:
For the sensory bin I dumped 2 bags of cotton balls into a container.  Then I found some snowmen, snowflake & penguin items on clearance or at the dollar store.  I also included some spiky little balls and a few ornaments leftover from Christmas.  I put in some measuring cups & spoons for Braden to play around with the items.

The sensory paint bag will also be hanging up all week for him to enjoy.

Making Snow - I found some at the dollar store
Sledding
Cloud dough - similar to snow, just not cold?
Ice fishing - freeze items in a block of ice and give your child a mallet to free them!

Snacks:
snowman shaped pancakes
marshmallow snowmen
snowflake/snowman shaped sandwich

Alphabet:
This week we'll focus on "W" for Winter, "S" for Snow, Snowman, and "P" for Penguin

Books:
Polar Bear, Polar Bear What Do You See?
Biggest Snowman Ever
Three Snow Bears
Z is for Zamboni
How to Build a Snowman
