During one of our yoga classes another mom brought some file folder "games" for her son to use. She had one for shapes, colors, fruits & vegetables. She used to teach kindergarten so she had some books at home that she printed & colored to make the game herself.
I absolutely loved the idea, so I started looking for ideas & resources online. Unfortunately, I could not find one particular book or site that I loved. So, I kind of gave up for a bit.
But, with this weeks theme being "weather" I thought I could possibly find a combination of pictures that I liked and create my own. With a particular topic to focus on it made things a little easier. So, I think that is what I will do to create more folder games on shapes, colors, fruit, vegetables, numbers, etc.
On Monday I found the pictures I wanted, arranged them in a document, printed and colored them. Then I glued the big picture into a file folder and wrote a title. The I colored and cut out the pieces that I wanted Braden to be able to match. On Tuesday I dropped the items off at Staples to be laminated and then finished the project at home by adding the velcro. At the time I couldn't find my strips of velcro, so I will add those to the left side to hold the matching pieces in place before "playing" the game.
Then everything was ready to go for Braden on Wednesday. I knew we would not be home very long, because we were headed to Marshwood for a visit. So, this was a fun little weather related activity for the morning.
